Qurban Catch is a fun party game that creatively teaches about Eid ul Adha in 2 modes. Regardless of which mode you play with, no prior knowledge required – learn as you play!

  • Catch Mode is full of energy and is all about reflexes! Learn the different types of animals suitable for Qurban, the conditions that can invalidate them and other important information about Qurban as you play!
  • Story Mode is thoughtful and focused on reflecting on lessons from the origin story of Qurban.

In this mode, take turns to reveal an animal card from the deck to one of the 3 farms. The moment the revealed animal matches an animal on another farm, you have to catch them! The first player to say that animal’s name successfully catches it and keeps it to their hand.

Whenever you capture animals and you have 3 matching animals in your hand, announce “Qurban!” to perform the ritual sacrifice. Allocate the 3 cards as Qurban Meat in the following manner, reflecting on actual Qurban allocation and recipients:

  • 1 card for your Qurban Meat
  • 1 card to another player’s Qurban Meat
  • 1 card to the Poor & Needy

Continue playing until the deck finishes. Then tally up the points of the cards under your Qurban Meat. The player with the most points win!

An advanced mode requires you to point to the corresponding body part, if the revealed card shows a body part. These correspond to the issues that make valid animals ineligible for Qurban. In the game, they simply give no points.

The points given by each card match the individual portion (for example, a goat or sheep is worth 1 individual portion, while a buffalo or camel is worth 7 individual portions).

How To Play: Story Mode

Arrange the Eid cards in a face down grid and take turns to reveal two cards at a time. When you reveal a pair of card with matching values, keep them both. Continue until all cards have been taken.

Once done, do one or both options:

  • For older players: Take turns to choose a random card any player. Take a moment to explain how you apply that card’s value in your life (for example, one card may say “sacrifice”). Continue until all cards have been used up.
  • For younger players: Work together to arrange the cards in order to tell the story of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and Prophet Ismail (A.S.) and its significance to us today. Use the Story Guide if you are stuck.
